Notes from Children & Family Ministries

Notes from Children & Family Ministries

Welcome back and happy new year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday break. We enjoyed seeing many of you at the Family Christmas Eve service.

This month we will be learning about sharing and the many different ways we share. As you go through your closets and toy boxes, we encourage you to collect any items you no longer use and donate them to North Raleigh Ministries. Involving your child in the process sets a great example of sharing with others.

Please let us know if we can support you in any way.

Many blessings,
Julie Poyer & Jen Bauldree

January 2010: Sharing

January 2010: Sharing

John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same." Luke 3:11

Sharing is giving freely of your time or resources because you want to, not with the idea of receiving a gift in return. Sharing is being aware that there is plenty for everyone. It is a chance to give just for the joy of giving. It is one of the best ways to show love and friendship.

Parent/Child Activities

Parent/Child Activities

The ability to share is an important part of socializing and making friends. Young children are naturally self-centered. The idea of sharing things with someone is something that needs to be taught and nurtured gradually over time.

  • Discuss how sharing can help others.
  • Discuss ways that your children can share your possessions or resources (sharing toys with friends, donating food to North Raleigh Ministries).
  • Talk with your children about charities that your family can contribute to.
